Good Morning Families! Now that the craziness of Halloween has past we can look ahead to November. We have quite a few activities and special events coming up in the next couple of weeks.
Picture Retakes: November 8th
ACT Aspire Testing: The third grade will be participating in the ACT Aspire standardized testing on November 10th and the week of November 14th. This test assesses all subject areas and compares the Tonganoxie third graders to other third graders in the nation.
It is a computerized test so all students will need their earbuds for the testing dates. I have several students who need earbuds that can be left at school.
Third Grade Music Program: November 17th is the 3rd grade music program. Our class will be performing at 6:30. The classroom will be open at 6:15 for students to arrive and prepare for the performance. Students will need to leave coats and personal items with their families as we will not return to the classroom after the program.
No School: There will not be classes held on Friday, November 11th.
Reading & Language: In reading we will continue to work on summarizing texts and identifying the main idea with supporting details.
Math: We will complete chapter 5 this week. We started working on memorizing the multiplication and division facts. Good old fashioned practice outside of school is one of the best ways to memorize the facts. I encourage all families to work with their child.
Social Studies: This week we will finish discussing government. The election process has thrown some interesting views onto my students. I have found they are very influenced by the media - but don't like how both candidates spend a lot of time throwing mud at one another.
Have a great week!
